News from the China Beijing International High-Tech Expo is that China's Intelligent Grouping and Resource Sharing has passed a significant vote of the International Electrotechnical Commission and will formally become an international 3C standard.
Approved by the Science and Technology Division of China's Ministry of Information Industry, IGRS was launched by five major electronic companies of Lenovo, TCL, Konka, Hisense and Great Wall in July 2003 with the core mission of making and promoting China's self-owned intellectual property right 3C convergence standard. On May 14, 2008, IGRS formally set up a joint lab, which marked a more stable and scaled industrialization for IGRS.
The IGRS technology resolves the incompatibility problem in drives, ports, and network configurations and realizes automatic identification and wireless connection between 3C products like computers, television sets, projectors, digital cameras and mobile phones. Up till now, the IGRS alliance has had 111 members, ranging from academic institutions and network operators to software mid-ware, chips and terminal manufacturers.
