Alcatel-Lucent Signs Billion Dollar Deal With China Mobile

Alcatel-Lucent (ALA) has signed a USD1 billion framework agreement with China Mobile (CHL) to provide mobile communications equipment and services for China Mobile in 2008.
Signed between Alcatel Shanghai Bell Company, a flagship company of Alcatel-Lucent in China, and China Mobile, the framework agreement says that Alcatel will provide China Mobile with mobile core network solutions, wireless network solutions, TD-SCDMA equipment, applications, transmission and IP router equipment and the related services, all of which are expected to further strengthen China Mobile's network capacity and performance.
Olivia Qiu, president of Alcatel Shanghai Bell Company, says, "We are very happy to continue our cooperation with China Mobile, which is one of the major strategic partners of us. The signing of the agreement with China Mobile enhances Alcatel-Lucent's position as a reliable partner, for with our network solutions and services, China Mobile will be able to meet the ever increasing demand of its users for both mobile and fixed services."
