A representative from China Mobile (CHL) Shanghai has told the local media that they've prepared to build 1500 TD-SCDAM based stations in Shanghai starting this month.
China Mobile plans to bring the total number of TD base stations in Shanghai to about 3000 by the end of this year to make the city fully covered by the 3G signal. In addition, Shanghai Mobile says that it will advance its wireless broadband index — apart from realizing a complete coverage of 2.75G network over the city and building more than 3000 3G base stations, it will also push forward the city's wireless construction with such advanced wireless broadband technologies as Wi-Fi and HSDPA.
What's more, China Mobile's affiliates in the Yangtze River Delta Region, including Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu, will soon launch a one-card-and-two-number business, which will enable users to shift between two numbers without turning off or exchanging their mobile phones.
At present, fixed phone users, mobile phone users and Internet users at the Yangtze River Delta Region accounts for 17%, 18% and 19%, respectively, of China's total fixed phone, mobile phone and Internet users. As the world's sixth largest city cluster, the region features a daily floating population of more than 2.2 million.
