According to the report of China News Service, at the historical moment when the whole world were watching the Bird's Nest in Beijing on August 8, 2008, a website in Langfang, Hebei Province was closed by local copyright department for illegally broadcasting Olympic-related activities.
At 19:35 on August 8, 2008, the Administration of Press and Publication of Hebei Province received a notice from China's anti-piracy special action office, which requested the administration close the server of an illegal website called Olympic Broadcast Website. After receiving the notice, the administration's staff on duty informed Hebei Communication Administration. Then the communication administration immediately contacted the relevant telecommunications company and issued an order to close the illegal website. By 20:00 that day, the website was closed — the complete process took only 25 minutes for the Chiense authorities to shutdown a website.
As the first website that was closed for Olympic copyright infringement, the Olympic Broadcast Website was operated for less than half an hour before it was closed, making it probably the shortest-lived Chinese website. It probably will not earn a medal for that honor.
