China Telecom (CHA) has reportedly selected Huawei as its partner to build China's first 40 gigabyte wavelength division multiplexing transmission network between Shanghai and Wuxi.
According to the contract, Huawei will provide a high-capacity 80 wavelengths x 40 gigabyte transmission solution that is capable of 10 gigabyte/40 gigabyte hybrid transmission to China Telecom to meet its ever-increasing Internet bandwidth demand and lay a foundation for high-bandwidth services.
Huawei says that the company's 40 gigabyte transmission system provides the most comprehensive coding technologies in the industry. It can offer the most cost-effective solution in different application scenarios. Huawei's patented SuperDRZ technologies support an ultra long-haul transmission of up to 1,500 kilometers, which can effectively reduce the investment costs. At the same time, its 40 gigabyte transmission solution will adopt the company's unique C-band extension technology, which can increase the fiber transmission bandwidth by an extra 20% and enable the DWDM system to attain a transmission capacity of 3.84T.
