Chinese electronics retailer Gome has officially suspended the administrative duties of its chairman Huang Guangyu.
According to Hong Kong's Ming Pao newspaper, Du Juan, wife of Huang, has also resigned her position as director for Gome and the resignation was effective from December 23, 2008. At the same time, because Huang is currently unable to perform his duties as a director, the company's board of directors decided to suspend his administrative duties from the same day of Du's departure.
Gome says that it has been trying to contact Huang, but no response has been received so far.
Gome has been removed from the Hang Seng Composite Index because of its prolonged suspension from stock trading in Hong Kong started from November 24, 2008.
