In response to Taiwanese media reports that Hon Hai Precision had gained the acting rights of Apple's iPhone in China, Edmund Ding, spokesperson for Hon Hai, denies the rumor and says the report came from nowhere and was merely a rumor.
On January 1, 2009, the Taiwan Commercial Times reported that Hon Hai had gained general acting rights for Apple's products on the Chinese mainland and the company would start a large-scale construction of channel market in mainland China. Later, other reports which were also originated from Taiwan said that Hon Hai was testing Apple's new 2.75G iPhone and this product would be launched in China in April 2009.
However, Hon Hai has published a report to clear the rumor and says the news was fully created by media speculation. The company further emphasizes that all the large events of the company will be published through official channels.
