Taiwanese computer, communication and consumer electronics retailer Tsann Kuen has announced plans to return to the Chinese mainland market in 2009.

In 2005, Tsann Kuen withdrew from the mainland appliances market because of continuous losses. At that time, Tsann Kuen had only operated in the mainland market for two years and the company sold its 32 stores to the mainland appliances retailer Yongle.

Having left the mainland market for three years, the company says it will now return to the mainland market with tourism as its focus. Its tourism subsidiary Star Travel will open 17 new outlets in such cities as Xiamen, Shanghai, and Dalian and travel-related 3C products, including digital cameras, video recorders, and video processing software, will be available in these stores.
