The Chinese portal NetEase has announced that its search engine subsidiary Youdao.com will launch the beta version of a new bulletin board service product, tie.youdao.com.
The online forum channel of Youdao.com features areas for users to upload pictures and videos. In addition, the new service will provide unique functions like personalized navigation. As the search engine support for the BBS service product, Youdao.com will also play an important role in the new product. Users can enter keywords in any sector of the BBS channel to search relevant themes, content and even writers.
Hu Chen, marketing director of Youdao.com, says that the company hopes to use a simple and easy-to-understand product name to represent the features of this BBS service, which are quick and convenient. Over the past few months, the company has implemented detailed adjustments many times and they believe the new product will help users to express their opinions more smoothly.
Launched by NetEase in December 2006, Youdao.com formally started operation in December 2007. Although the official version has only been published for about one year, William Ding, founder of NetEase, said in public many times that he was optimistic about the search engine business of NetEase, but so far the performance of Youdao.com is far from satisfactory.
