According to Liu Chuncheng, executive deputy director general of the Central Business District Management Committee of Beijing, the CBD area's application for overall wireless network coverage in public areas has gained support from Beijing's Development and Reform Commission.
Upon completion of this regional network, the CBD area of Beijing will become the first public region that can provide free Wi-Fi service in the city.
Liu says the work is progressing well and the construction will be completed in the first half of 2009 if everything goes smoothly.
