Shanghai Gains 100,000 3G Mobile Phone Numbers From China Unicom

China Unicom's Shanghai branch has gained 100,000 mobile phone numbers with the 186 prefix for its WCDMA business due to open commercially on May 17, 2009.
At the same time, China Unicom is promoting its network construction in accordance with its plan and will try to release the WCDMA mobile phone numbers in more cities on May 17, 2009.
Huawei, one of China Unicom's 3G providers, previously announced that China's first video call based on the WCDMA commercial network was made in Guangzhou at 16:00 on February 11, 2009. In addition, such video calls have been made in Shanghai and Qingdao.
According to the result of China Unicom's WCDMA tender, Huawei is responsible for China Unicom's 3G network construction in such cities and provinces as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang and Fujian, while ZTE has entered such provinces as Guangdong, Shandong, Fujian and Zhejiang, including some municipalities and core cities like Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chongqing and Dalian.
