One of the largest instant noodle companies in China, Sichuan Baijia Food Company, has announced plans to enter China's online direct sales sector at the end of March 2009.
Sheng Jiawu, executive vice president of Baijia, said that Baijia plans to invest CNY2 million to CNY3 million to create China's first online food direct sales system within two years. For the first step, Baijia will set up an online flagship store as well as cooperate with Chinese Internet shopping platforms such as Taobao.com, Eachnet.com, Youa.baidu.com, and Dangdang.com to launch Baijia's direct sales supermarkets and establish its online supply chain system.
At present, the entire online direct sales system of Baijia is under construction and it will open at the end of this month. By then, all of Baijia's 130 kinds of products will be available in the online supermarket so consumers can order their instant noodle snacks via the Internet.
