According to the customer service staff of China Mobile Beijing, its mobile phone numbers now are portable among its three major brands, including GoTone, M-Zone, and Easyown.
The company said if users are not satisfied with their current brands, they can apply for other brands and can use the services of other brands once the application is approved. Users who want to change the brands of their SIM cards should make applications in China Mobile's business halls with their identity cards; and they do not need to change their mobile phone numbers while changing the brands.
Comparatively speaking, M-Zone is suitable for people who often send short messages; Easyown does not have a monthly fee, which is favorable for making calls; and GoTone has richer selections of packages.
Prior to this, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which was called Ministry of Information Industry at that time, issued a notice in October 2006, asking that from January 1, 2007, telecom operators should ensure that users of one network should be able to choose all charge solutions on this network of the company without changing of mobile phone numbers. At that time, China Mobile Beijing promised to realize number portability among its three brands from July 1, 2009.
