China Unicom To Invest CNY15 Billion In Hubei In Next Five Years

Chinese telecom operator China Unicom has signed a strategic framework agreement with the provincial government of Hubei to improve the information level and to boost the electronic information industry of the province.
Li Xiansheng, executive deputy director of Hubei, said at the signing ceremony that information technology is an important driving force for the development of a modern society and it has become one of the most dynamic industries in Hubei. China Unicom is a main force in the information construction of the province and the cooperation with the company will be a win-win situation for both parties.
Under the agreement, China Unicom will invest no less than CNY15 billion in the information infrastructure construction of Hubei in the next five years. For 3G network construction, China Unicom will pay special attention to Hubei to improve the 3G network coverage in the province.
Meanwhile, the Hubei government will continue to optimize the local environment and provide quality service to support China Unicom's development in the local market. In addition, it will include the development of China Unicom's 3G and GSM networks in its overall development planning and offer support to the company in areas such as radio frequency, municipal planning, environmental protection approval, electricity introduction, and pipeline construction.
