MIIT: Chinese Electronics Information Products' Trade Down 23.3% In First Seven Months

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has announced from January to July 2009 the accumulated imports and exports of the electronics sector decreased by 23.3% year-on-year to USD387.053 billion.
The ministry stated in the first seven months of 2009, the total exports of China's electronics information products were USD228.427 billion, a decrease of 21.7% compared with the same period of last year; while the total imports of this sector were 158.626 billion, a decrease of 25.6%.
For the detailed structure of these exported products, the exports of communications equipment were USD42.15 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 11.29%; exports of radio and television equipment were USD3.454 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 29.78%; exports of computer products were USD84.213 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 21.42%; exports of home appliances were USD38.505 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 11.60%; exports of electronic components were USD28.208 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 35.89%; exports of electronic materials were USD1.854 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 40.18%; and the exports of electronic devices were USD8.67 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 38.06%.
In addition, notebooks, mobile phones and LCD panels ranked in the top three exported products in the first seven months of 2009. The exports of notebooks were USD32.615 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 6.02%; exports of mobile phones were USD19.539 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 4.71%; exports of LCD panels were USD9.021 billion, a year-on-year 35.09%.
Compared with the extensive exports decline, the performance of LCD TVs still maintained a growth of 33.09% over the previous year, reaching a total exports value of USD3.378 billion.
For imports, from January to July 2009, the imports of communications equipment were USD10.375 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.67%; imports of radio and television equipment were USD2.628 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 31.87%; imports of computer products were USD22.316 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 20.83%; imports of home appliances were USD5.552 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 21.63%; imports of electronic components were USD34.795 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 37.50%, imports of electronic materials were USD3.481 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 33.55%; and imports of electronic devices were USD10.826 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 35.69%.
