Taiwan-based wafer foundry United Microelectronics Corporation has announced that its revenue in August 2009 increased by 11% from NTD8.17 billion in the same period of last year to NTD9.06 billion.
The company did not mention the reason for the revenue growth during the month.
Meanwhile, it reported a revenue decline of 22% in the first eight months of 2009, from NTD65.94 billion a year earlier to NTD51.34 billion.
However, UMC stated at the end of July 2009 that its wafer shipment in the third quarter of 2009 is expected to increase by between 8% and 10% over the previous quarter and the average price of its products may rise about 5%, due to the improvement of demand.
