NEC Sheds Staff In China

Japan-based NEC is planning to reorganize its human resource structures in China.
Jin Zizhao, president of NEC China, announced that NEC (China) Company Ltd, NEC Information System (China) Company Ltd, and NEC Advanced Software Technology (Beijing) Company Ltd, three wholly-owned companies of NEC in China, will be integrated into a new company and the reorganization will be carried out in October 2009 and completed in April 2010.
The new company will be responsible for NEC's software and communications business in China.
At present, NEC has about 2000 employees in Beijing. It is said that NEC will cut about 25% of the employees during this business reshuffling which aims to help the company cut costs in the face of the financial crisis.
Currently, NEC has 71 affiliated companies in China with a total of 16000 employees.
