One of China Mobile's top executives is being investigated for "suspected serious personal violations" by government authorities.
In a press release issued by China Mobile Limited on December 27, the company states: "The board of directors of China Mobile Limited announces that the company was notified yesterday that Mr Zhang Chunjiang, vice chairman and an executive director of the company, is currently under investigation by relevant authorities due to suspected serious personal violations. The board will closely monitor the situation and will make further announcement when appropriate."
Neither the company nor Zhang have given any indication that Zhang might relinquish his duties at China Mobile during the probe.
