Chinese social networking site Renren.com and the South Korean electronics company Samsung have announced in Beijing that the two companies have reached cooperation and will jointly create a social networking service ecosphere based on products of both parties.
As one of the largest Chinese SNS websites based on the true-identity system, Renren.com has formed partnerships with many mainstream mobile phone makers and continues to launch mobile clients that are suitable for different mobile platforms. So far, it has developed clients for systems such as iPhone, Android, Symbian, Java, and BADA.
The cooperation is expected to promote Samsung's newly launched mobile application store Samsung Apps and its mobile phones products based on the BADA smart operating system; expand its smartphone market; and improve the mobile Internet experience of its users. With Renren.com's application, Samsung's mobile phone users will be able to login their accounts on Renren.com, keep in touch with their friends, and use the functions and services provided by Renren.com.
Jiang Zhiqiang, chief marketing officer for Oak Pacific Interactive, the owner of Renren.com, told local media that Renren.com's endless applications and experiences connect 150 million users in China and its wireless Internet platform will become an indispensable tool for people's daily communications. Renren.com hopes that mobile phone users can enjoy the same quality services as PC users; meanwhile, the real-time communications of mobile phone users are expected to enhance the experience of PC users.
Apart from the cooperation with Renren.com, Samsung has also implemented strategic cooperation with Baidu.com, Tencent, and Ifeng.com in China.
