According to Tan Qunzhao, chairman and CEO of the Chinese online game developer and operator Shanda Games, the company plans to launch several games for Apple's iPhone handsets and iPad tablet computers in the third quarter of 2010.
According to reports in local media, Tan explained that these games will mainly target overseas users. Because Apple has smooth global issuance channels, it will be easier for Shanda Games' entry into a global environment by launching games for Apple's products.
He also predicted that Shanda Games' overseas revenue will be doubled in 2010 and its overseas revenue is expected to account for about 10% of the company's total revenue in two years. In addition, the company has been seeking investment and acquisition opportunities, especially in the emerging gaming sector.
Shanda Games' performance report showed that its net profit in the fourth quarter of 2009 increased by 44% year-on-year to CNY415 million.
