China Netcom Installs Solar-Powered Phone Booths

China Netcom's Public Telephone Management Department has this week finished installing 200 Little Smart (PAS) telephone booths in urban Beijing areas that are not covered by communications cables.

Each of the public telephone booths operate via Little Smart's wireless signals.

In addition, each booth uses solar power for recharging. The batteries for each booth are placed conspicuously on top of each booth to catch the sun's rays.

If the booths prove successful, Netcom plans to unveil them in more spots in China.
