The industrial and commercial departments from 11 cities in China have conducted a check on their respective electronics markets and they have identified 56 computer sellers who were selling computers with pirated Windows or pirated pre-install Windows software.

Local media report that investigators checked a total of more than 30 electronics markets in the 11 cities and they discovered 169 computers under 17 brands that had been installed with pirated Windows operating systems. The industrial and commerce departments say they have severely punished the 56 sellers, but the punishment details have not been disclosed.

At present, the mainstream computer manufacturers often pre-install Windows operation system during their production process, while some other computer manufacturers don't install the operation system themselves and they have the computer sellers do so. This gives the chance for these sellers to install pirated software, which helps them make more money when they sell computers.
