The China Academy of Telecommunication Research of the Ministry of Information Industry has formally set up a mobile phone testing center in Shenzhen.

This new center will provide fast and high quality mobile phone testing, certification and related services to mobile phone enterprises.

Wen Ku, director of the Science and Technology Division of MII, says the establishment of the testing center is a new move that MII has taken to support the development of the information industry in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta region, which have accounted for 40% of China's mobile phone production.

The new mobile phone testing center will support the government's efforts in cracking down on illegal mobile phones and purifying the mobile phone market so as to protect consumers' interests. In the meantime, it will convey the government's policies to the consumers. For mobile phone manufacturers, it shortens the cycle for their products to get into the market and helps them save costs.
