China Mobile and China Broadcasting Corporation have jointly announced that the TD+CMMB mobile TV service developed by the two parties has officially been put into commercial use.

China Broadcasting Corporation, the operator of China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting service, has published its charging standards for this mobile TV service.

China's first China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting provincial operator Shandong Zhongguang Communication Company was established on February 24, 2009, which represents the start of CMMB operation at the Chinese provincial level.

The State Administration of Radio Film and Television of China held a teleconference last week on China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting, in which the administration clarified the direction for the future development of CMMB.

According to Xie Jinhui, vice director of the Academy of Broadcasting Planning of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China, the administration is planning to build a central-level company for China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting.

Supported by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, Shanghai Ruigao Information Technologies has completed the first large-scale indoor coverage project for China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting in Shanghai.

Sun Zhaohui, vice director for the Wireless Bureau of the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, said at a press conference that the signals of China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting will hopefully cover the entire country in the second half of 2008.

News from China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television is that China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting will soon be put into commercial use on a trial basis in the three Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen and seven programs will be available free of charge during the trial use period.
