NEC Corporation and Oracle Japan, the subsidiary of Oracle Corporation, recently announced that Fuji Xerox (registered as Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.) has built a Supply Chain Management (SCM) system in its factory in Shanghai using the Oracle E-Business Suite, and went live recently.
Fuji Xerox is planning to shift production base of low and medium speed digital copiers from Japan to Shanghai, that are 80% out of its whole production volume. With the aim of expanding production volume at the Shanghai plant to 30,000 units per month, Fuji Xerox built a new SCM system and financial system. Fuji Xerox aims to reduce the production lead-time, production cost and delivery time using the new system significantly. In addition, Fuji Xerox plans to integrate this new system with the system in Japan.
The new SCM system consists order management, inventory management, procurement, supply chain planning and discrete manufacturing management. The new financial system consists general accounting, cash flow management and fixed asset management. These systems went live within only 8 months by minimizing add-on development and the full utilization of Oracle E-Business Suite's most standard functions. At this system, NEC and its subsidiaries in China handled the system integration project. In addition, Oracle Japan's China Business Development Unit in China supported the system implementation project.
NEC will expand providing the solution to Japanese manufacturing companies in China with the experience of the system integration. In addition, NEC will strongly support building global supply chain systems for the customers in manufacturing industry with expansion of business alliances in China and Asia Pacific region.
