Shanghai Alps Wins ISO Certification

February 6, 2004
Gadgets & Electronics

Shanghai Alps Electronics Co., Ltd., a joint venture of ALPS Electronics Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jinling Co., Ltd., and ALPS (China) Co., Ltd., has obtained ISO 14001 certification of its environment management system and ISO 9001:2000 certification of its quality management system.

The certifications, which resulted from inspections by Shanghai Audit Center of Quality System (SACQS), were registered on January 6, 2004. The scope of these certifications extends to Shanghai Alps' electronics component design, manufacturing, and service operations, and related management functions. As a result, the company's entire line of products is covered.

Amid rising concern for quality management and the global environment, Shanghai Alps obtained ISO 9002 certification of its quality system in November 1996, as its first step toward the establishment of a quality assurance system and the improvement and stabilization of product quality. Subsequently, with an eye toward further expansion of its business in China's rapidly expanding broadcasting and communications market, Shanghai Alps began working toward ISO 14001 and ISO 9001:2000 certification. With the ISO 14001 certification of its Shanghai subsidiary, ALPS has reached this milestone at 17 of its 19 targeted bases. The ISO 9001:2000 certification is the 15th of 19 bases targeted for this credential.
