RailCom Building Network For 3G Field Test

March 11, 2004
Telecom & Wireless

The second round of 3G field tests is expected to take place at the end March. RailCom is currently making preparations and has reported that its testing network has been deployed and it is now awaiting the MII's examination.

The media are reporting that RailCom is the first operator to have completed the deployment of its 3G testing net. Participating in the second round of 3G field tests has been the first task that RailCom has undertaken since it broke away from the Ministry of Railways and became one of the six major telecom operators in China at the beginning of 2004. RailCom is said to have begun preparations for this task as early as last November–analysts believe that this is because RailCom is currently the smallest and weakest among the six, and it needs to complete the first task well.
