Editorial Staff

Datang Communications has announced that the first Chinese-patented communications chip, called COMIP, has been successfully co-developed by one of its affiliates, Shanghai Zhongxin International, and Zhejiang University.

The processing capacity of the chip equals that of the Pentium 3, and it can be used on different communications terminals including the three internationally recognized 3G standards-based (SCDMA, WCDMA and CDMA2000) mobile phones and fixed phones.

In addition, it helps in improving the design efficiency and liability of the communications terminals and reducing communications production costs. Datang will make a formal announcement on the appearance of the chip in early September.
