Law & Policy

Since July, a campaign to rid pornographic call services has been underway in China. The campaign will end in October.

Eight governmental departments including the Ministry of Information Industry, Ministry of Public Security, Propaganda Department of Central Chinese Communist Party Commission, Administration of Press and Publication, the Supreme Procuratorate, Supreme People's Court and Legal Office of the State Council have jointly set up a special coordination team to deal with the problem.

The campaign is proceeding in three phases:

1) from late July to late August, detailed work plans and measures have been made;

2) from Mid-August until October 1, comprehensive checks are conducted on the voice message market and illegal services are currently being closed and proprietors are being punished;

3) after October 1, the agencies will draw conclusions from the campaign and arrange effective long-term mechanisms to keep pornography off the messages stations.
