The Telecom Service Regulations, which had been reviewed and approved during the eighth affairs meeting of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), took effect this week.
These new regulations are aimed at improving the service quality of China's telecom industry, protecting subscribers' interests, and ensuring the sstandardization of telecom services.
The new MII rules require telecom service operators to arrange complete service quality management systems and to report their detailed service quality status to their higher authorities. The regulations also set forth the service criteria to which the operators must reach and gives detailed accounting of the specific services.
In addition, the new regulations prescribe various punishments to operators who fail to reach the standards.
