February 22, 2006
Telecom & Wireless

Goldman Sachs says in its latest research report that China Unicom (CHU) may sell its GSM network to a TD-SCDMA license winner.

This is the second time that the investment bank has mentioned this rumor.

Goldman Sachs says that selling the GSM network will be conducive to China Unicom's development and operations. It will enable the operator of TD-SCDMA to provide better network coverage and roaming service for users.

It is generally believed that China Unicom might sell its G net to China Telecom, which is deemed to be the leading operator of TD-SCDMA in China.
