American digital television top box service provider Tivo has signed an agreement with Shanghai Media Group (SMG), the largest digital interactive television program supplier in mainland China, and will enter the mainland market next month.

Ta-Wei Chien, chief executive of TGC, TiVo's sales agent in Asia, disclosed that TiVo will hold a promotional exhibition in Shanghai in August to mark its entry into the Chinese market.

Apart from television program recording, TiVo will also launch an enhanced TiVo To Go and TiVo Come Back service through which users can record DVR content direct to their PC.

Local media says Ta-Wei Chien also predicts that TiVo will occupy 20% of the Taiwan television service market by 2010.
