China Will Launch Online Anti-Piracy Platform

Law & Policy

Yan Xiaohong, deputy director from National Copyright Administration of China, has told local media that China is building an online anti-piracy platform which will effectively identify the authenticity of a product or software package.

Yan says the system, which can identify whether a product or software has been legally authorized, will first be introduced in the software sector.

Yan also said that China still lags behind developed countries in terms of online copyright protection, but he believes that piracy is a worldwide issue, so joint efforts from all the countries are needed in order to deal with this issue.

Yan also disclosed that China is preparing to set up two collective copyright management organizations. One of them will take charge of text copyright, and the other will manage art works.
