UTStarcom (UTSI) has won a bid from China Telecom to deploy RollingStream end-to-end solution for the telecom's commercial-use IPTV network in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
Brian Caskey, vice president of worldwide marketing for UT Starcom, has told local media that UTStarcom's RollingStream is one of the most extensively used IPTV platforms in China and it has been used in the commercial network in more than 13 Chinese provinces and benefits about 270,000 users.
The IPTV network in Ningxia will be able to support 10000 users at the initial stage, providing 52 radio and TV programs, 48-hour television program recording and various other value-added services. UTStarcom will provide a whole set of RollingStream solutions for China Telecom, including flow media servers and set-top boxes.
Caskey believes that it is UTStarcom's rich experience and advanced technology in deploying and managing large scale IP network and its close cooperation with local partners and government departments that have prompted UTStarcom to a top position in China's IPTV industry.
