Zhao Yilei, a securities affairs representative from China Unicom (CHU), has told local media that China Unicom will transfer 30,000 CDMA base stations to China Telecom.
In addition, it will sell 10,000 base stations to China Telecom for a total of CNY4.5 billion.
Zhao says that the division of base stations is the most complicated issue involved in China Unicom's selling of the CDMA business to China Telecom, and after negotiations, the company has agreed to transfer 30000 of its total 80,000 CDMA base stations to China Telecom and sell another 10,000 to the latter.
Zhao says that after the amalgamation between China Unicom and China Netcom is completed, China Unicom's A-shares will continue to be the group's investment holding company and China Unicom's stake in the new company will decrease to about 33%.
