China-based ZTE Corporation's American subsidiary says the ZTE C79 handset has now entered the U.S. market.
"At ZTE, we provide carriers with handsets that have great features and design at an affordable price because we know that is what many consumers today are searching for," said Dr. George Sun, CEO of ZTE USA. "With the ZTE C79, we are giving consumers everything they are looking for on a single, sleek device. Furthermore, MetroPCS is the perfect partner to help us deliver this handset to the U.S. market."
The ZTE C79, a CDMA AWS flip phone, is being offered by carrier MetroPCS to subscribers in the U.S. markets it serves. The ZTE C79 includes over 60 MB of user memory for downloading games and applications as well as an MP3 player which includes external music keys. The handset operates on AWS frequency bands in addition to the PCS and Cellular bands.
As with all its products, ZTE both designs and manufactures its handsets in-house.
