Having already established production bases in South Africa, France, Hungary and Algeria, Chinese home electronics manufacturer Hisense has just built its newest production base in Egypt.
Hisense totally invested USD15 million in the 120,000-square-meter production base. Focusing on the production of CRT and LCD models, the new production base is expected to produce 100,000 televisions annually. According to the development plan of Hisense, its production base in Egypt will become the company's largest TV manufacturing base in the Middle East and North Africa area, so as to realize Hisense's localized production objectives and to improve its competitive power by reducing costs.
Hisense officially established its Egypt office at the end of 2006. In 2007, Hisense became the top Chinese TV manufacturer that exported the most self-branded TVs to Egypt. By August 2008, the sales revenue from the Hisense brand rose 66% year-on-year in its Egyptian office, while the Hisense brand has accounted for 22% of the company's overseas revenue so far this year.
According to Lin Lan, vice president of Hisense Group, the company's goal is to establish Hisense as a true global home appliances brand in three to five years.
