Telecom & Wireless

Chinese telecom operator China Unicom has published its latest unaudited financial report end September 30, 2009, and states it made net profit of CNY9.34 billion in the first three quarters of 2009.

The report also said the company made total revenue of CNY114.93 billion during the same period and its average earnings per share was CNY0.393.

Of the total revenue, CNY112.22 billion was from its communications business, accounting for 97.6% of the total; and CNY51.79 billion was from the mobile business. In addition, the average revenue per user of its GSM users was CNY41.6; the revenue of its fixed line business was CNY59.83 billion; the revenue of its broadband business was CNY18.05 billion; and the average revenue per user of its broadband users was CNY59.5.

China Unicom said that during the first three quarters of 2009, the company actively responded to the challenges brought by the macro-economic situation and the restructuring of China's telecom industry. While promoting the construction of its WCDMA networks and achieving the commercial use of its 3G business, it implemented an overall internal merge to become a full-service provider to maintain the stable and orderly operation of the company.
