HP Appoints New President For China

HP has announced the appointment of Steve Gill as managing director and vice president of global sales for China HP, effective July 1, 2011.

HP revealed that in his new role, Gill will be responsible for a broad hardware, software and services portfolio to drive the instant-On enterprise business. Meanwhile, he will lead the business operations in China. Gill will be located in Beijing and report to Piau-Phang Foo, HP's president for Asia Pacific and Japan.

Having already worked for HP for ten years, Gill was president for HP South Korea and vice president for enterprise business group since June 2009. Earlier than that, Gill was president for HP's U.K. and Ireland regions between 2002 and 2009.

Prior to this, Gao Ruibin, former president for HP China and general manager for enterprise business group, departed on April 29, 2011, after joining the company for only seven months. HP China did not disclose the detailed reason for Gao's departure.
