Chinese telecom operator China Telecom has published its financial report for the first half of 2011, stating that its operating revenue reached CNY120.208 billion and its net profit reached CNY9.808 billion during the first six months of the year.
From January to June 2011, China Telecom gained 17.85 million new CDMA 3G users, reaching a total of 108 million; and it gained 6.61 million new broadband users, reaching a total of 70.09 million. At the same time, it lost 2.83 million fixed-line users to a total of 172 million.
China Telecom's revenue from the CDMA business increased by 36.8% year-on-year to CNY31.139 billion, accounting for 25.9% of its total revenue; its revenue from the broadband business increased by 13.1% year-on-year to CNY29.755 billion, accounting for 24.8% of its total revenue; and its revenue from the fixed-line voice service was CNY26.462 billion, accounting for 22% of its total revenue.
According to the report, the industry information application market has become an important income source for China Telecom and its revenue from value-added and comprehensive information services reached CNY22.389 billion, an increase of 24.2% compared with the same period of last year.
