According to a report published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China on its official website, from January to July 2011, China had achieved telecom revenue of CNY668.77 billion, an increase of 16% compared with the same period of 2010.
Statistics showed that revenue from main telecom businesses increased by 10.1% year-on-year to CNY559.46 billion. Of which, the mobile communications sector contributed CNY400.05 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.2%; and the revenue accounted for 71.51% of the total revenue from main telecom businesses. At the same time, the fixed-line communications contributed CNY159.41 billion.
By the end of the reporting period, the number of China's mobile phone users had reached 929.837 million, including 87.199 million 3G users. Meanwhile, the number of fixed-line users decreased by 4.888 million to a total of 289.453 million.
MIIT also reported that during the first seven months of 2011, the number of broadband users in China saw a net increase of 17.192 million to 143.483 million.
