China Telecom has published its financial report for the first three quarters of 2011, stating that from January to September, its operating revenue reached CNY182.357 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%.
The company's net profit reached CNY13.859 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.1%.
The report said that during the first three quarters of 2011, the total number of China Telecom's mobile users reached 117 million, including 28.43 million 3G users. During the reporting period, its mobile users saw a net increase of 26.43 million and its 3G users saw a net increase of 16.14 million.
At the same time, China Telecom's broadband users reached 73.69 million, with a net increase of 10.21 million users; and its fixed-line phone users saw a net decrease of 4.09 million to 170 million users, including 108 million family users, 36 million business users, and 14 million public phones.
China Telecom said that though its mobile users increased by 26.43 million in the first three quarters, its average revenue per user saw a slight decrease compared with the same period of last year. In addition, affected by the development of new technologies on the Internet and the loss of personal access system users, its fixed-line phone user group continued to shrink. In regards to these challenges, the telecom operator said it will enhance the integration of its full businesses while controlling the marketing investments for low-end users, so as to maintain its earnings in the fixed-line voice business segment.
