With stiff competition from Xiaomi and Apple, Chinese smartphone maker Meizu says it will layoff staff.
Commenting on the layoff, Meizu's president Bai Yongxiang said that they know that employee layoff plan is not the entire solution, but it can improve the possibility of building an excellent team to build an excellent company and provide better products and services to users.
Meanwhile, Bai revealed that the amount of employees involved in this adjustment will no more than 5%. On behalf of the company, they would like to express their appreciation to those people and offer related compensation. The company did not reveal the departments involved in this layoff either.
In 2015, Meizu's sales reportedly increased by 350% year-on-year to 20 million units. At the same time, official statistics ahowed that the company's number of employees increased to nearly 4,000.
