Internet

Chinese Internet live show platform Huajiao claims to have accumulated over 200 million users; covered 500 cities in China; attracted 15 million active live show hosts; and realized daily average user viewing time of 5.6 million hours.

Yu Dan, founder and vice president of Huajiao, which is still a private company, said that the company is expected to achieve operating revenue of CNY5 billion in 2017. Meanwhile, the company will invest CNY100 million to sign short video talents and provide extra subsidies to generate quality online content.

Huajiao.com recently launched its new 6.0 version, adding MV short video and "party" functions. With this move, the company will tap the short video and video social sectors. The MV short video service allows users to make short videos with different music; while the "party" function allows the joining of six persons on the same screen to upgrade the live show interaction from one-on-many to many-on-many.

Yu said through big data analysis, they found that young users prefer to showcase their loneliness via the Internet and they have strong desires to make friends. Therefore, Yu believes video friend making will become the next popular online trend.
