Tencent Launched Video Service In Taiwan

According to reports in Taiwanese local media, Tencent recently launched its video service WeTV in Taiwan via its Hong Kong investment company named Image Future Investment?HK?Limited.

At present, WeTV is available in Taiwan's App Store and Google Play. It is said that this app has already been downloaded over 500,000 times from Google Play.

WeTV provides VIP services to paid members. At present, its monthly subscription price is TWD190, which is about CNY42 and the trial period price is TWD90, which is about CNY20; meanwhile, the quarterly subscription price is TWD560, which is about CNY124 and the trial period price is TWD250, which is about CNY55.

Prior to this, Iqiyi entered the Taiwanese market via an exclusive agent and Tencent entered this marketplace in the same way. In addition, other Chinese mainland Internet video providers like Youku and Mgtv are also actively exploring the market.
