According to reports in foreign media, Chinese telecom device maker Huawei recently submitted an application to the European Union Intellectual Property Office for a new trademark "Harmony".
The applied category of this trademark is "mobile and computer operating system" and the application date is July 12, 2019. Rumors said that the new trademark will be the official name of Huawei's operating system in some overseas markets.
Public files showed that Huawei also applied the same trademark in at least nine countries and EU regions, including Cambodia, Canada, South Korea, and New Zealand. It will be used in smartphone, laptop, robot, and car control sectors.
Huawei's chairman Liang Hua once said that the Harmony system is developed for Internet of Things and it will be used in scenarios like autopilot and telemedicine. For smartphones, Huawei still considers Android as its first choice.
