Hong Kong police sue developers of fake COVID-19 tracking app

Hong Kong officials appear poised to expand the mandatory use of a COVID-19 tracking app, as police pledged on Tuesday to track down developers of a fake version of the app. Police are investigating the origins of the bogus app after the government made its LeaveHomeSafe app mandatory for anyone entering government-run buildings, including courts, swimming pools, badminton courts and public markets from November 1. Police arrested three government workers and two contractors on Monday for using the bogus app to gain access to the immigration tower.
