Apple has apparently pushed forward its plans to expand production outside of China and has told contract manufacturers it is aiming to diversify production. The Wall Street Journal reported this today. While some Apple products are already manufactured in countries like Vietnam and India, the vast majority of Apple production takes place in China, at Foxconn and Pegatron factories. The Journal says Apple has been considering geographic expansion plans for a while, but the pandemic has halted any immediate changes. However, the recent series of strict lockdowns in Shanghai has reaffirmed the need to diversify. China is also geopolitically risky....
