Apple wants to increase production outside China

Apple Inc has told some of its contracted brands it needs to ramp up production outside of China, the Wall Street Journal reported, mentioning others familiar with the matter. India and Vietnam, which are already Apple’s production sites, are among the countries shortlisted through the company as alternatives, the report adds. Last month, Apple forecast bigger problems as COVID-19 lockdowns reduced production and demand in China. The report states that Apple cites China’s strict anti-Covid policy and the reasons for its decision. Apple declined to comment on the WSJ and may not be reached via Reuters on Saturday.
