China Halts Dual-Use Exports to Europe Over Taiwan Arms Sales

China's Commerce Ministry has imposed a ban on exporting dual-use items to seven European entities due to their involvement in arms sales to Taiwan. The decision follows the inclusion of these entities on China's export control list. Among the affected companies are German defense electronics firm Hensoldt AG and Belgian-based FN Browning, known for defense and sporting arms manufacturing.

The Chinese Ministry's action was prompted by the participation of these companies in arms deals with Taiwan or alleged collusion with the region. Taiwan's government has not yet issued a response to this development. The banned dual-use items encompass goods, software, and technologies with applications in both civilian and military sectors, including certain rare earth elements crucial for drone and chip production.

Clarifying its stance, the Chinese Ministry emphasized that the measures are specifically aimed at dual-use items. It reassured that normal economic and trade relations with Europe will be upheld, except in cases related to the restricted exports.
